The Nrityaprerana Research and Documentation Centre,Pune

Aping the west is a trend that seems to be catching all countries including conservative, rich heritage backed countries like Japan, China and India. Indian classical Dance has a tradition handed down over thousands of generations and we are duty bound to preserve it.    Nrityaprerana School of Dance has formed a Documentation Centre for students of various Indian Classical Dance forms. This project is the only private effort of its kind in Pune.   Pune city has a large number of students learning Bharatnatyam, Kathak, and Odissi, Kuchipudi dances. It is very difficult for them to find any material readily available for referencing. This difficulty in accessing knowledge has inspired us at Nritya Prerana to start the process of establishing a library where any dance student can come and refer to material available whether books, audio, video cassettes, former documentations, research material and data. We are therefore very keen on expanding our database to a wider spectrum and therefore already have begun with a collection of books and other relevant material.

We plan to make available

>

Informative material in the form of books, music, video clippings, CDS etc. to the students for research and study purposes.

>

To develop an interactive website to reach out to a maximum number of researchers.

>   To invite eminent dancers and musicians for conducting workshops for disciples of various dance forms.

>   To Conduct forums, seminars and symposiums to come forward with expert guidance and refresher courses for dancers
